The Centurions bowling teams hosted their lone team invitational of the season on Friday morning at the Hot Spot in Greenville.Ìý

In a field that included Jackson College, Kellogg Community College, Marian Ancilla College and Muskegon Community College, the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø men’s team placed third with a team total of 4,175 pins while the women’s team took fourth with a total of 3,163 pins. Jackson College took the top spot for both the men’s and women’s tournaments, with the men’s team totaling 4,492 pins and the women’s team finishing with 3,784 pins.Ìý

The Centurions men’s team got off to a hot start to their day, leading through the first combined individual game, totaling 996. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s scores of 945 and 937 in games two and three opened the door for Jackson College to start to pull away. The Centurions struggled in the baker blocks, totaling scores of 384, 379, 295 and 339. The baker block performance by Kellogg Community College vaulted them to second place with blocks of 417, 403, 422 and 340.Ìý

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø freshman Cooper Hoskins (Portland, Mich.) showcased his talents with an overall first-place finish individually, holding the high series of 636 after bowling games of 237, 199 and 200. His first game score of 237 was the highest among any bowler for the day, tied with Kyle Sanderson of Muskegon Community College. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø sophomore Ethan Hopkins (Fenwick, Mich.) finished just behind Hoskins, placing seventh overall with a series of 590 (229, 186, 175).Ìý

The short-handed ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø women’s team avoided the bottom of the finishers list, one of its stated goals for this season, once again. Through the first game, bowling a combined score of 714, the Centurions sat in third place. Scores of 696 and 628 in the following games kept them well ahead of Marian Ancilla College heading into the baker blocks, where the Centurions totaled blocks of 240, 285, 315 and 285.Ìý

The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø women’s team was led by sophomore Zoey Guernsey (Ionia, Mich.) who finished with a three-game series of 507, tied for fifth-best overall, after bowling games of 165, 171 and 171. Freshman Madyson Hartman (St. Louis, Mich.) bowled the highest game for the Centurions — a 177 in game No. 2 — sandwiched by games of 166 and 142, finishing with a series score of 485.Ìý

The Centurions now turn their focus to the postseason, starting with the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøAA) Championship on Friday, Feb. 7 at Merri-Bowl Lanes in Livonia.Ìý
