ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø men’s bowling team finishes second, girls fourth at Kellogg Tournament

Fresh off their first win of the season, the Centurions men’s bowling team traveled to the Kellogg Community College Invitational on Friday at M-66 Bowl in Battle Creek.Ìý

The men’s team followed up their first-place performance with a second-place finish at the KCC tournament, with the women’s team placing fourth out of five teams. The men’s team finished with a team total of 4,067 pins, falling just short of first-place Jackson College, which finished with 4,241 pins.Ìý

The men’s team fell behind early with combined games of 926 and 815, but bounced back with a combined score of 979 in the third game, leading the five teams in that round. The Centurions shined in the baker blocks, bowling games of 341, 319, 336 and 351.Ìý

The Centurions were led individually by sophomore Ethan Hopkins (Fenwick, Mich.), who bowled a three-game series of 620 — second-best among all bowlers at the tournament. Hopkins started with a score of 180 and followed it up with games of 225 and 215. Not far behind Hopkins was freshman Bradon Krohn, who finished seventh overall with a series of 566, bowling games of 205, 149 and 211.Ìý

The Centurions women’s team placed fourth with a total of 2,622 pins. Jackson College paced the field with a team total of 4,164 pins. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s combined scores from the three individual games bowled were 540, 610 and 597. The Centurions followed up with baker block games of 212, 203, 232 and 228.Ìý

Freshman Madyson Hartman led the Centurions with a three-game series of 498, good for eighth place overall, bowling games of 156, 164 and 178. Sophomore Zoey Guernsey (Ionia, Mich.) finished 14th overall with a series of 463, bowling games of 154, 157 and 152.Ìý

Both the men’s and women’s bowling team will be back in action on Friday as they host the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Invitational at 11 a.m. at the Greenville Hot Spot.Ìý
